Reflection of the Day
"Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life."
John 6:68
As I reflected on the words Simon Peter said in response to Jesus' question, invariably, I found myself echoing those same words in agreement. Indeed, to whom shall I go to apart from Jesus, for He has the words of eternal life.
Looking back, I cannot imagine a life without Jesus. Where then would be my hope? Where then would be my firm security? Where then would be my joy? Where then would be my comfort? Where then will I be now?
Life on earth apart from Jesus is too scary to behold. If it wasn't for Jesus, given the multitude of mistakes I have made, I would have lost all hope of life!
The end of man's strength is the beginning of God's grace. Woe are those who would hold on to their threadbare strength and spurn the amazing grace of God! Where is their security? Where is their hope? Where is their joy? Where is their comfort?
Blessed are those who have come to the end of themselves and have received the free gift of God in Jesus Christ! For those with God, nothing and no circumstance on earth can spell the end of them, for their God, their Divine 'ally', ever watches over them and create roadways in the wilderness, streams in the desert, that they may live and find hope.
How great and awesome is such a God! There is no despair for the one whose hope is in Christ Jesus. And though the mistakes I have made in my life are many, though the world around me is uncertain, I rest assured that I have a firm security, a glorious hope, a joy, a comfort, in Christ, that can never be taken away from me.
Lord, to whom shall I go? You have the words of eternal life.
