Reflection of the Day
"We forget that our Lord was a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief. We forget the arrows of grief and pain which went through the heart of Jesus' mother, Mary. We forget that all of the apostles except John died a martyr's death. We forget that there were 13 million Christians slain during the first two generations of the Christian era. We forget that they languished in prison, that they were starved, were thrown over cliffs, were fed to the lions, were drowned, that they were sewn in sacks and thrown into the ocean...."
Who Put Jesus on the Cross?
A.W. Tozer
I have indeed forgotten.
In another few hours, the year 2008 will have passed and the year 2009 will be upon us. In this new year of new beginnings, will I remember Jesus and the call I have received in Him? Or will I continue to forget?
May the Lord grant me grace and help me to live, day by day, a life worthy of the calling I have received in Christ Jesus. May the Lord continue to help me to meditate and reflect upon the two verses I have chosen to be descriptive of my life:
"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
Philippians 1:21
"...'Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word.'..."
Luke 1:38
May the year 2009 truly be a year of new beginnings for me in Christ, by Christ, to Christ, for Christ.
