Reflection of the Day

"The lack of attention today to the Second Coming of Christ is not unrelated. If prayer is both meaningful and satisfying, we will encourage others to pray with us, and look forward to Christ's return to earth. The fact that we do not invite people to times of corporate prayer tells us something is missing in the present enjoyment of God in the life of the church. We have little difficulty inviting others to something we enjoy. Have we lost the necessary incentive to pray? We are hardly going to invite people to an occasion we don't enjoy. The sad fact is that we don't enjoy prayer and the church is in danger of losing its prayer life. We need to have our appetites whetted again for that experience of the presence of God when his people come together to pray."
John Wallis
Come Into His Presence, Pg. 17

There isn't much that I can add to what John Wallis has said so succinctly and powerfully. The question to you and me, is, how much do we enjoy prayer. For the answer betrays the very state of our lives and reveals to us the path we ought to take. And it might be a very painful answer to behold, if we are willing to be absolutely truthful to ourselves.
