Reflection of the Day
"The Great Commission is not an assignment from God but an alignment with God.
Rev. Edmund Chan
I've not heard Rev. Chan for a while but after so long, he still speaks with such clarity of thought, able to succinctly identify root issues and provide insightful, theological perspectives, all bundled in short catchy phrases. This phrase regarding the Great Commission, is, in my mind, absolutely spot on in the Church these days.
Not merely food for thought, but a heart-piercing question to each and everyone of us. Have we, along the way, lost sight of God and allowed the Great Commission to be an assignment from God? Let us bear in mind the Westminster Confession which succinctly puts: "the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever". Our focus ought always to be the glory of God. The Great Commission is just another aspect through which we bring glory to God as we enjoy Him.
